Original Artwork's Description

Vintage teacups sit on the bench in my studio bathed in yellow and rose light. I have always worked in many layers to build up paintings which glow from the inside and have a fabric like textural surface filled with interesting brushwork and marks.. This work is a continuation of my exploration of historical painting techniques via still life painting. In this work the areas which would usually be depicted in white light are left 'under painted' or exposed, whereby the base coat and drawing is exposed and over painted to become the feature of the painting.

Artist Bio

My studio is in the middle of my home, We live by the forest, The forest is full of creatures and birds. The house is full of things, dust, art and sometimes creatures as well. My paintings evolve over many hours, sometimes months, building layer upon layer. For me this is the thing that is so wonderful about painting, it's slowness.
