Inspired by a love of art history. This artwork expresses shortened version of the history of landscape art as the artist sees it. The artwork works its way down through history from the top. Starting with the beautiful misty mountains of Chinese landscape art, downwards to John Constable era Romanticism. The scene then blends into Australian style Impressionism, then on to Monet’s beginnings of abstract thought with his textural lily ponds. Lastly, at the base of the artwork, Monet’s Lily’s transform into a simplified, geometric abstract landscape.
Interconnecting five styles of landscape development through history this piece is a conversation starter and statement piece.
