Time seems to slow when you step onto the beach or into a rockpool. There must be something about the continuous sound of the waves in the background and the warmth of the sun on your skin to make you take a deep breath and marvel at the size of the ocean or the calm of a seagull just floating on the breeze. I've often wished I could bottle that feeling. This is an attempt to capture it.

While I've been a graphic designer for over a decade and have long appreciated fine art, my personal journey in art making began in 2019. As a self-taught artist, I started with drawing and watercolours, then moved on to oils, and finally to acrylics. What began as an indulgent way to spend a lazy hour here and there soon transformed into a daily practice. I found myself able to slow down, to savour moments in line for shopping or in the car, simply enjoying the world around me. There is so much to see if you take the time to REALLY look. Everyday places and things inspire me to paint. I hope that by noticing and recreating familiar scenes and local landscapes, others will see the beauty and find joy in them too.
