Swell Clovelly

I am a big fan of the sea pools of the eastern suburbs of Sydney. One of my favourite spots is Clovelly. Whenever I am up in Sydney we go for a swim in one of our favs. This painting is of Clovelly in January: the swell was huge but luckily it was still low tide, so it was swimmable. A beautiful place to be.

I grew up in New Zealand in a very scenic coastal town, so the dramatic sweeping landscapes influenced me at an early age. I moved to Sydney in 1989 and from 1999 I lived in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney where I rekindled a passion for landscape art. The diverse flora of the eastern suburbs influenced my palette, drawing me into the colour and magic of Sydney's coastline and surrounds. I love painting with vibrant, vivid tones to capture man's relationship with nature. My family and I are now living in the south coast of NSW. I am surrounded by amazing landscapes that continue to inspire my passion, and I am constantly trying to express this through my art.
