Artwork Description

I recently purchased a Flamingo flower plant (Anthurium sp.) that was in full flower. I was captivated by the intense, bright red flowers, the contrasting yellow stamens and the glossy green leaves.
I used acrylic paint to capture the brightness of the red flowers and stamens, and the shininess of the green leaves.

Artist Bio

Hi, my name is Michael and I am an artist who lives in the Northern Rivers Region of NSW. I have been painting and drawing for more than 50 years and the passion and excitement is still there. My paintings are a form on my expression and interpretation of a subject.

I work with water colour, acrylic, pencil and black marker pen. I have even tried gloss enamel paint on a recent painting titled 'Rappville after the fires'. I was very happy with the result as the high gloss colours captured a sense of realism and rebirth of the Australian landscape after being ravaged by fire.

My style could best be described as photorealism as my paintings show a great amount of detail and a sense of realism of the subject. I love colour, texture and form and bringing to life the subject being painted.

I love exploring nature through the Australian landscape. My paintings can sometimes capture a native forest; an old, dilapidated shed; to a rustic old car body that has long been forgotten in the landscape.

I also love painting close ups of subjects, typically these include flowers of either native or exotic species. The intensity of colours, the variation of textures and the uniqueness of form are spectacular and look great when captured.

I hope you enjoy looking through my collection of works. Thank you for your interest.
