This is the cliffs of Moher in county Clare Ireland. O’Brien’s tower perched atop.
I was inspired to Paint this Irish scene after viewing the works of New Zealand artist Neil Frazer. Built with layers of oil paint over a thick impasto acrylic base, I tried to instil a sense of life in to the giant cliffs, with sweeping thick strokes of the knife followed by washes or dulled oil I wanted to capture the weight of the Atlantic Ocean and impending weather.
With its natural blues, greys, and earthy greens, this piece would suit living rooms, offices, hallways, or any space longing for that Irish connection, bringing depth, calm, and a strong focal point to the space.
