The Red Shed

Influenced by famous Australian plein air artist Leon Holmes. I wanted to capture the spirit of one of my favourite local areas (Oxley Creek Common, Brisbane) with smart but urgent brush strokes.
It would suit a cosy home or a serve as a link back to the outdoors in a city office.

Michael Gallagher is a multidisciplinary artist working primarily in oil paint. His
practice moves between realism and expressive mark-making across portraiture
and landscape, with occasional surreal and socially reflective themes. A recent
focus on plein air and alla prima painting has expanded his work, emphasising
confidence, immediacy and clarity of observation.
