Artwork Description

This piece depicts a wild windy yet sunny day on the west coast of Ireland, (where I am from). In Ireland the weather can be beautiful (twice a year) but if you brave the coast you might get blown away. This is Knocknarea mountian seen from Rosses Point (County Sligo). People climb this mountain carrying a rock so the can leave it on Queen Meaves Carin (grave) on the top, visable from the other side.

Artist Bio

Michael Gallagher is a multidisciplinary artist working primarily in oil paint. His
practice moves between realism and expressive mark-making across portraiture
and landscape, with occasional surreal and socially reflective themes. A recent
focus on plein air and alla prima painting has expanded his work, emphasising
confidence, immediacy and clarity of observation.
