Self-Portrait

I have always been influenced by the strong contrast between light and dark in the Baroque works of Caravaggio. Caravaggio's self portraits are a window into his soul. In my first self-portrait, I aimed to connect with my own audience through the canvas. It was very important to me to pay homage to one of my greatest influences but also continue developing my own unique style of portraiture.

Michael is a Melbourne born and raised self-taught artist. He specialises in realism portraits in the medium of acrylic on canvas. He also enjoys painting watercolour portraits and landscapes. He has always enjoyed creating art that makes himself and others happy. Michael dreams of one day meeting his idol, J.K. Rowling and holding an exhibition of his Harry Potter painting collection. He is also looking to become a published children's book writer/illustrator.
