Two unripened persimmons sit alongside a small porcelain vessel and silver plated sugar server. The vibrant orange and yellows of the fruit complement the deep blue of the floral design sitting beside it. A harmonic design is found in the use of complementary colours, the bright and vivid blues and oranges are soothed by the muted green of the stone top bench. The sharp highlights of the water drops and serving spoon add extra interest to the paintings overall design and also hint at the sweet offerings to be found on display.
