Artwork Description

These small, framed prints are inspired by landscapes from an aerial perspective and are printed on 310gsm fine art cotton paper.

The print itself measures just 12 x 12cm but the fine details still stand out. The frame measures 23 x 23cm and a wide white mat surrounding the print highlights it even more.

The titles of the prints are well-known towns and landmarks in Western Australia. Each one bears some abstract resemblance of the areas by way of colours, shapes, and textures, and a somewhat insightful guess as to what one of these places would look like from the air.

The framed prints in the photographs are almost identical to the real thing, although when attached to a wall in a series they look very impressive. A series of three, six or nine will certainly light up a wall with the variety of colours and patterns available.

Artist Bio

“Painting for a Purpose”

I started painting later in life as a creative outlet after enjoying a rewarding career in the restaurant business.. I am self-taught with the exception of attending a number of courses in drawing and water colours, and also dabbled in sculpture using a variety of mediums.

I have visited and lived in some beautiful regions of Australia and the world, including Far North Queensland, London, Southeast Asia, France, and Italy. Each experience has opened my mind to the diverse ecological, cultural, and behavioural significance.

My style and choice of mediums has changed over the years but my search for inspiration remains constant. For me art is learning about my environment, about myself, and about other people.

The context of my artistic expression has also changed. It serves a purpose greater than anything I had hoped to achieve in the past.

My art can be described as straightforward yet ambiguous and metaphorical. It has proved to bring joy into people’s lives through a combination of colour and textural elements.

The purpose of my art is to improve mental health through visual and cognitive stimulation.

“I cannot imagine a world without colour.”
