Artwork Description

I've always loved flowers and when I took up photography ten years ago, I was drawn to taking photos of...flowers! This is from a series of images that were taken in the studio earlier this year. I like black and white images because of the way they lead the viewers eye to explore shapes, lines and textures. Tulips are associated with Flemish still life and that classical association is heightened by the timeless quality of a monochrome image.

Artist Bio

Photography, for me, is a way of noticing — of pausing long enough to let the world reveal itself, whether that is in its beauty, drama or heartbreak. I’m drawn to moments where light, form, and texture align to create something simple yet resonant.

My presentation here is mostly of works focusing on flowers, captured both in black and white and in colour, generally shot in the studio and reflects an enduring passion. The studio setting allows for precise control over lighting and composition, which can beautifully highlight the delicate details and textures of flowers. Black and white photography emphasises form, contrast, and tone, offering a classic and elegant interpretation, while colour images showcase vibrancy and energy.

I also do street and landscape photography and I will put some select ones here on Bluethumb.
