Artwork Description

The "quiet one" is a recurring motif/figure that appears in a number of my artworks. A simple figure looking out and contemplating a pond scene and water Lilly pad.

Artist Bio

I am a mixed media artist working from my home studio on the Redcliffe Peninsular in sub-tropical Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia. I have been working as both a 2d and 3d artist for well over 20 years and while I consider myself to be mainly self-taught, I have expanded my skills through participating in numerous artist workshops and tertiary studies.
Currently my primary art practice is in painting, drawing, mixed media, sculpture and also some forays into digital and photographic art. Most recently I have been a finalist in two competitions in Paddington, Brisbane and the Redcliffe Gallery Exhibition of Excellence. I have also progressed my work with several solo exhibitions, the last in 2022 where I sold 17 paintings.

My practice is fluid as I am constantly experimenting with various mediums and techniques including collage, print-making, acrylics, inks, pastels, charcoal to create texture, depth and layers. Evolving themes then become the foundation for future gallery exhibitions.

Emanating from my internal dialogue, muses and recurring motifs emerge organically in the creation of my art.

As I engage deeply with my subconscious, both abstract and representational forms and gestures come to life, reflecting a profound interaction with nature, personal introspection and a curiosity to explore new ideas.

In addition to my gallery work, I apply my artistic vision to designing surface art for products such as homewares and clothing. This allows me to extend the essence of my artistic practice into everyday objects, blending fine art with functional design.

Through both my exhibitions and product designs, I aim to infuse everyday life with a touch of nature’s beauty and the subconscious insights that shape my work, creating pieces that are visually striking and deeply resonant.

For a number of years I have shared my passion with community groups in Brisbane including a nursing home and various disability and community interest groups. I believe that art making is beneficial to personal growth, self-expression and self-understanding. My own personal journey into artistic expression has continues to provide me with great joy and ongoing fascination.
