My artistic journey started in the 1980’s when I began using pastels but it was not until about 20 years ago that I seriously began painting watercolours after prompting from an artistic neighbour. I have experimented with acrylics working on canvas, but my true love is watercolours.
I am a member of several art clubs in the Perth metropolitan area as well as regularly attending other group workshops with like minded artistic friends.
Whilst painting, I can become totally lost in the moment as I see wondrous things happening on the paper in front of my eyes as the water and paints flow. When I am creating, I like to let the effects of controlled accident or chance develop my paintings and in so doing create depth and movement in an abstract way.
My inspiration comes from nature with special influence from the natural form and textures of shells, sea creatures, ocean themes and of course, my favourite flowers.
