This painting is of an anthurium plant ('Red Hot' variety). The title comes from the Gathasaptasati, a collection of 700 poems written in the Prakrit language, compiled by Satavahana King Hala in c.50AD, It is part of a growing body of work that juxtaposes imagery of flowers with lines of poetry, expressing themes of love, lust and longing.
