Artwork Description

Somehow I felt compelled to paint a moody heavy sky filled with rain in complete contrast to the reality that this country is burning and there has been so much loss for so many. My heart is with those affected by this terrible drought and the devastating bush fires that are still raging. This painting is my hope for you, rain and lots of it! .

-The sides are 3.5 cm deep and left white.

Artist Bio

Michelle Keighley is a third-generation Australian artist known for her bold, expressive landscapes and still life works that celebrate the richness of the Australian environment. Based on Queensland's Fraser Coast, Michelle uses energetic brushwork, rich textures, and intuitive mark-making to explore the natural world.

She considers herself an alla prima artist, working wet-on-wet in one sitting. Her style is emotive and spontaneous, focused on capturing the essence of a scene without overworking the piece.

A passionate nature lover, Michelle draws constant inspiration from the outdoors. Her still life works are influenced by Australian native flora, and she aims to evoke feeling, mood, or memory through every painting.

Michelle’s art has been featured on The Block, Selling Houses Australia, and the Netflix biopic True Spirit. Her work has also appeared in leading interior design publications, including Grand Designs Australia, Inside Out, and Home Design Magazine, and is represented by top galleries around the country.
