Artwork Description

‘Bitcoin’ is from a playful collection of surreal self-portraits where I have been exploring the constant nature of the mind stream and what occupies that space at any given time.

Painted from my home studio in Byron Bay, where I live with my husband and daughter, my paintings are influenced by daily life, nature and the subconscious.

Michelle Macnamara grew up in Melbourne and lives in Byron Bay with her husband and daughter. She paints from a home studio there.

Michelle’s work often draws on daily life, and the simplicities/complexities of the human experience. The work is figurative, usually the female form, and often a kind of self-portrait.

Works are mostly in oil on canvas, Michelle has been drawing and painting since she was a teen. Since 2000 she has shown in solo and group exhibitions, and her paintings sit in private collections around Australia and overseas.

Michelle also writes and publishes children’s picture books through GreatFunBooks.co.
