Artwork Description

I am always inspired by the strength of nature. Flowers may age, whither and die. They may suffer at the hands of humans as we take and take and take. Yet each time their season comes they are there, boldly standing in all their glorious defiance.

This piece is a reflection on age and modern beauty standards.

Artist Bio

Mikaela has been painting her whole life. She was raised by a wonderfully creative family who have always supported her life-long dream to become an artist. Her grandmother is her biggest inspiration and influence, who fed Mikaela's creative curiosity from a very young age.
With a love of everything arts, Mikaela has spent the past 7 years working as a professional singer and performer, as well as a theatre makeup artist. This has shaped her into an experienced and passionate teller of stories - in all manners of expression.
In 2018 Mikaela graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and Laws, which has deepened her interest and understanding of people and community. This interest in people as well as a love and curiosity of all things beautiful inspires much of her painting.
Mikaela's work often focuses on the subtle ways in which people show emotion - revealing itself in the eyes, in the curve of the neck, the shape of the shoulders.

Mikaela specialises in painting people and portraits.
