I have been painting this subject for over 15 years and I love this version of it. It really is an echo of Charles Conder's work Holiday at Mentone back in the Australian Impressionist days and is one of my favourite paintings housed at the South Australian Art Gallery.
The Semaphore jetty is at its lowest near the shore and provides an interesting scene with people below and on top. It encapsulates our beautiful beaches and the vast expanse of sky that is always visible.
