Artwork Description

This work is inspired by Warragamba Dam which is a heritage listed dam in the Sydney catchment area. It was a great engineering feat that employed many migrant workers and is one of the largest domestic water supplies in the world.

Artist Bio

My background is in boatbuilding, engineering drafting, photography and working as an arts technician for organisations such as Australian Centre for Photography, Carriage Works, Performance Space and Ken Unsworth artist. My artwork is influenced by all of this experience plus extensive travel by bicycle. My works mainly involve woodworking techniques as I love timber as a natural, renewable material. My experience as a photographer adds a lot in the way of composition to my works. My artworks often have a retro/mid century look to them, I feel this was a great time for many fields of design. They are wall art but also have three dimensionality. I take pride in the craftsmanship of the works which often include found objects.
