I have been a registered Architect since December 1979 to date. Having worked on a variety of design and building types. I have now retired to the mid north coast and recently began to draw and paint. I regularly meet with some fellow artists at Wingham for a fortnightly life drawing and portrait group. I have learnt a lot by observing their excellent work.
Experience
Registered Architect β 1979 - Present
Originally began my architecture career designing McDonalds restaurants. An interesting introduction to commercial architecture, interior design and construction contracts. So different to university. Went on to work at McPherson and King, Architects at Castle Hill. Ten years of commercial, industrial, residential, retail. Moved on to working for myself
University lecturer at UWS β 1991 2008
Ah the recession we had to have forged a new career as an academic in the School of Construction at UWS. A god-send really as it helped to pay the bills and feed the kids. Kept up my work as an architect with a couple of projects every year. All of that fed back into the university lecturing at both under-graduate and post graduate levels. Even did time as Head of School, so I must be an organiser.
Registered Architect β 2009 - to date
Back to work as an architect. Architecture should be left to the architects to do, the others can all just get out of the way. Yes we really do know what we are talking about.
Artist and βArt-e-tekβ β 2017 - to date
Finally an artist, well I have been designing and drawing professionally for 45 years plus six years of University studies plus School. Always happy to have a pen or pencil in hand, drawing people, places and planes (I like airplanes).
Education
University of New South Wales β B.Sc. Arch 1975 B.Arch 1978
Skills
I can hold a pencil, sketch, colour, draw and make stuff up. I think widely and differently to most people. I ride push bikes and fly planes for fun.
