Artist Bio

As a toddler, due to my health I spent a lot of time in the 90's in doctors' waiting rooms. My mum says nothing got me to sit still quite as much as the art lining the walls of the waiting rooms.

I then grew to make art myself. I would sit at my desk and scratch at a new page of A4 quietly as to not wake my parents. I relished in and coveted these rare moments of being alone with my art.

Fast forward past many an inkstained school blouse, acrylic paint 'stylised' blazer, my art school project won me my first art competition and my work was being acquired by the Melbourne Art Gallery. It was an exhilarating experience to be honest. Due to my upbringing, art was not seen as a viable option.
Hencewhy I skipped around different careers for the better half of a decade.

As many of you can likely relate - the depression and constant burnout was not helped by also holding myself to creating art every .single.day.

Still not sure if it was passion or obsession at that point. Either way I was pushing myself to pick objects and subjects I wanted technical improvement on.

Before you ask. Yes.a lot.of. hands.

Why am I making art now ?

I want my work to bring calm+peace to spaces.
I'm of the mind that art is something very conceptual and yet so real. In my case it's a physical object that takes your mind on a journey as you experience it.
Art can both supplement and enhance a desired feeling of a space.

I get a kick out of experimenting with different textures and mediums ( i feel like a mad scientist).

If you ask me for a comission I'd like to set your expectations.
You can expect me to work using a brief you and I agree on.
However I will use my artistic liberties to focus on achieving the required 'feel' of the piece based on the colour and space it will live in.
This could mean adding a secondary element or extra texture to achieve a balance.

My work is always 1 of 1. I can create similar pieces but they will have variance.
