Artwork Description

Oil on canvas inspired by a beautiful Spring scene in the remote Gascoyne Kennedy Ranges. The mauve mulla-mulla flowers bloomed against the layered orange-red rocky slopes and green shrubs of the desert, outstanding under a perfect clear blue sky.

Artist Bio

I have always enjoyed a story, creatively expressed, using the written word or visual means to capture stories that speak of nostalgia, beauty or humour. In the sanctuary of my studio, I play and create with mixed media, oils, acrylics and paper mâché, gravitating to the use of emphasised line and rich colour in my artwork. I have found art a grounding experience, a meditative place of prayer, and what keeps me sane! Quirky things appeal to me, and eclectic subjects capture my imagination. My subject matter can therefore change from time to time. That is one of the things I absolutely love about expression through art. I don’t have to follow any rules except the ones I choose at the time. The boundaries are flexible, and there is great rest and joy in this.
I’m a teacher and writer, with books published in 2025 on Amazon. I’ve worked as a freelance illustrator and am presently working on writing and illustrating children's books.
I grew up in the Southwest of Western Australia and have lived across the state, from Carbunup River in the Margaret River region, to the red desert sands and tropical fruit plantations of Carnarvon in the Northwest. I now reside close to the ocean in the Midwest where I find inspiration and a sense of peace on the vast coastline, under a wide and ever-changing sky.
