Lumos captures the vivid hues of nature set against the drama of a matte black background. The piece has a luminous quality, with almost pearlescent tones of green stems and blue petals contrasted against richer deep maroons, burgundies and blush tones. Movement of blooms is captured in the mark making, and drip effects of the medium. The baroque vessel plays with the eye, by turns catching the light and retreating into shadow to allow the abstract florals to take centre stage.
