As part of my Artist in Residency in the Pilbara I was lucky enough to see all the colours and resilient flora of the big red Pilbara landscape.
The inspiration I found in the colours and diverse plant life was endless.
Not only the amazing flowers that can only be found in the Pilbara but also the seed pods that come after the flowers are gone.
The colours in the Pilbara are brighter, richer and more luxurious in that harsh sunlight.
Most fascinating was the change in colours as the sun started to go down watching the colours deepen and sparkle in the dusk half light.
The banksia were transformed as the dusk light fell. The banksia sparkled and twinkled like jewels and the foliage deepened creating beautiful blues and greens. The colour change was almost magical to watch. I hope to have captured some of that magic here.
I will be forever changed and inspired by my time in the Pilbara and its big red landscape. So grateful to have experienced the sights, plants and colours that will intermittently inspire my work for years to come.
The interior shots may not be to scale but are provided for inspiration.
This piece will come to you in a black box frame with perspex ready to hang.
Hope you enjoy this banksia trio as much as I did creating them.
