Born in the beautiful island of Sri Lanka, I lived in many different parts of the world. After spending over twenty years in England, I now call Adelaide home.
I have a degree in interior design and have always had a passion for art. My inspirations come from travelling the world and my life experiences.
My art is not confined to a specific style or genre. I often experiment with new ideas; this gives me the freedom to challenge my preconceptions and to break through the boundaries that I had set myself. I aspire that those who view my work will experience the beauty and serenity that I try to portray. I have exhibited and sold many of my artworks both in Australia and overseas and take much pleasure sharing my work.
I believe that it is not the final product of art that is important in an artist's craft; the process of expressing oneself on a canvas is an artform itself. Therefore, I use social media to post videos of the creating process. I also use it to draw inspiration from the latest trends and styles in modern art, as well as engage with fellow artists and creators.
My first solo exhibition in July 2023 held at the Hughes Gallery, Fullerton was a wonderful experience. Proceeds from the 25 paintings that were purchased went to a Sri Lankan children's educational support charity. The encouragement and feedback that I received from family, friends and members of the public will inspire me to continue on this path and develop my skills. My website is www.artbymitali.com
