Artwork Description

Cradle Mountain, a part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, is renowned for its dramatic alpine scenery, ancient rainforests, and diverse wildlife. Here, nature’s balance teeters between the inhospitable and captivating - a landscape that is haunting. Its jagged peaks rise above the fog with foreboding majesty, where ancient alpine flora clings to life amongst shadow and mystery, a place that feels otherworldly, almost ethereal.

Artist Bio

My practice is about exploring the mysteries of natural places, of hidden seclusion and renewal. There is a certain clarity being in the landscape, a desire to interpret and listen to the changes in nature, to feel the seasons, the time and temperature of the day, to watch the water flow knowing that this view will never resonate the same way again. Working with mixed media also shapes my interpretation and becomes an integral part of the work. I work mainly with oil paints that can be applied thickly or thinly building up layers towards a fuller varied surface then scrapping back and being reworked as I search for new possibilities within the work.
