Artwork Description

Silver Award — 2025 Australian Photographic Prize

Species: Azure Kingfisher (Ceyx azureus) and fledgling Azure Kingfisher (Ceyx azureus)

A fleeting moment of care and urgency unfolds as an adult kingfisher delivers its catch to a waiting fledgling, wings held in perfect suspension. Electric blues and warm russet tones stand out against the softly blurred bushland, drawing the eye to the exchange. Beyond the beauty, the image speaks to instinct, survival, and the quiet rituals of the wild.

Artist Bio

Hi, I’m Mohamed Rageeb, a passionate wildlife and landscape photographer based in Australia. My photography journey wasn’t planned—it was sparked by a chance encounter with nature’s raw beauty while hiking through the wilderness. That moment of awe changed everything.
As I stood surrounded by the untamed landscapes of Australia, I felt an overwhelming urge to capture, preserve, and share the magic of what I saw. When I picked up a camera, I discovered the incredible power of freezing fleeting moments—turning them into timeless visual stories. What began as a casual curiosity soon evolved into an unstoppable passion.
