Artwork Description

Story & Inspiration:
This piece was inspired by the timeless beauty, strength, and grace of African women. The headwrap, a symbol of pride and identity, represents cultural heritage and inner resilience. Through the calm expression and elongated earrings, I wanted to capture both elegance and quiet confidence — a reminder of dignity in simplicity. This artwork brings a sense of warmth and empowerment to any room, inviting reflection and admiration.

Materials:
Created using charcoal and pencil on paper, the soft shading and fine detailing highlight both texture and depth, giving the portrait a lifelike yet serene quality. The monochrome palette allows light and shadow to take center stage, adding sophistication to any space.

Artist Bio

My name is Ibtihal, and art has always been my way of making sense of the world around me. It’s where I feel most free—where emotion, imagination, and identity come together and take shape. Creating is not just something I do; it's a part of who I am.

I’m constantly exploring new ways to express myself, whether through color, texture, form, or movement. I’m drawn to the emotional layers within people and places, and I aim to reflect those layers in my work. Every piece I create carries a part of my story, but it’s also open—inviting others to see their own reflections within it.

For me, art is about connection. It’s about pausing, feeling, and remembering that we’re not alone in what we experience. Through my practice, I hope to spark that connection and leave something meaningful behind.
