This artwork was inspired by my grandmother, I have a painting of hers which is an oil on wood still life. Her artwork depicts this exact same stool that she bestowed to me. My grandmother was my first introduction to art and painting and this work is an ode to her memory as a self taught artist that came to her creative essence later in her life. The stillness and mundaneness of still life captures a simple every day scene that the habitual mind normally perceives as uninteresting and unglamorous. Forcing the mind to step outside of its own restrictions and into the beauty of the everyday ordinary.
