Monica Hardy has worked as an artist for over twenty five years, with collectors Australia wide. Based in Ballarat , Monica’s inspiration is derived from the varied colours and textures found in her surroundings. Her range of subjects is broad, however a leaning towards natural elements and abstract have featured more recently in her work.
Having run a successful gallery, Templesmith Studio, in the Victorian City of Ballarat, gave Monica a chance to connect with art collectors from all walks of life. Her works sold prolifically from her gallery, and a number of art workshops proved popular, as well as art classes for children. This connection that art has from maker to collector is a driving force in Monica’s art making, it’s the ability to share a passion for creating and sharing a love of colour, design and the emotion that it can ignite.
She discovered that most people want to collect things for their living space that ignites a feeling and/or contemplation, and with always a strong connection to colour, texture or both.
With a strong focus presently on acrylic on canvas, Monica has worked in collage, charcoal, oil and pastels, and has no hesitation in combining any of these components when applicable. Painting remains a positive gateway for Monica to convey expression, emotion and contemplation and her surroundings provide ample influence and insight for her work.
