Artwork Description

My abstract designs often feature some layering of complementary colours as a base. The stronger lines painted on top add to the feeling of depth and movement in this design. I’m drawn to shapes that are reminiscent of natural features such as petal shapes and pod shapes that are found in nature. I added the dots right at the end as a finishing touch. They add a sense of fun and also help your eye travel across these gentle but fun colours.
The artwork comes framed in a natural coloured timber box frame and is strung, ready to hang.

Artist Bio

Monica Hardy has worked as an artist for over twenty five years, with collectors Australia wide. Based in Ballarat , Monica’s inspiration is derived from the varied colours and textures found in her surroundings. Her range of subjects is broad, however a leaning towards natural elements and abstract have featured more recently in her work.
Having run a successful gallery, Templesmith Studio, in the Victorian City of Ballarat, gave Monica a chance to connect with art collectors from all walks of life. Her works sold prolifically from her gallery, and a number of art workshops proved popular, as well as art classes for children. This connection that art has from maker to collector is a driving force in Monica’s art making, it’s the ability to share a passion for creating and sharing a love of colour, design and the emotion that it can ignite.
She discovered that most people want to collect things for their living space that ignites a feeling and/or contemplation, and with always a strong connection to colour, texture or both.
With a strong focus presently on acrylic on canvas, Monica has worked in collage, charcoal, oil and pastels, and has no hesitation in combining any of these components when applicable. Painting remains a positive gateway for Monica to convey expression, emotion and contemplation and her surroundings provide ample influence and insight for her work.
