Artwork Description

This richly layered work bursts with life—anchored by a dramatic, full-bodied chrysanthemum at its heart, surrounded by soft hydrangeas, delicate daisy clusters, lotus seed pods, and unfolding buds. Every petal is painted with intention, capturing the texture and energy of a garden in full, poetic bloom.

Monica’s mastery of colour and composition brings a sense of depth and movement, as petals curl and stretch outward across a deep, moody green background. Soft mauves, dusty pinks, lavender blues and vibrant greens create a calming, luxurious palette that will instantly elevate any space—whether in a modern home, gallery-style interior, or boutique setting.

Influenced by her background in textiles and storytelling through material, Monica treats each floral element as a symbol of resilience, femininity, and natural abundance. The chrysanthemum, in particular, is celebrated for its beauty and endurance, mirroring the themes that run through her broader artistic practice.

Perfect for collectors of detailed botanical art, lovers of nature, or those seeking a bold centrepiece, Abundance is a timeless celebration of colour, craft, and care. A statement piece that speaks softly yet powerfully—this is more than just a floral painting; it’s a blooming world waiting to be invited into your own.

Abundance is a 1.2mx1.2m original oil painting. It can be framed upon request. Please allow an extra 10-14 days for framing on top of standard delivery timeframes.

Artist Bio

Monica Henry is a contemporary Australian artist based in Geelong, Victoria, whose richly detailed textile and floral artworks celebrate a lifelong love of fabric, colour, and craft. With a background in visual arts and design, Monica’s practice is deeply informed by her family’s generational ties to the wool industry, as well as her own experiences travelling and living abroad—most notably in Japan, where the refined aesthetics and reverence for materials left a lasting impression on her creative journey.
Holding an Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts and further studies through the Geelong Fine Art School, Monica has explored a wide range of disciplines including fabric design, photography, life drawing, screen-printing, and painting. Over time, her practice has evolved into a deeply personal form of textile expression, where botanical forms, rhythmic stitch work, and rich textures converge into artworks that are both visually striking and emotionally resonant.
Using a variety of wools and yarns—many of which connect back to her roots in Geelong, once a centre of Australia’s wool industry—Monica builds intricate surface textures through layered stitching, thoughtful colour palettes, and flowing design. Her works are inspired by nature, movement, and the emotional qualities of textiles, drawing the viewer in with their softness, depth, and sense of continuous motion.
“I want my work to feel immersive,” she says. “There’s no set beginning or end—just a moment to pause and wander within the piece.”
Monica’s work is held in private collections across Australia and internationally, including in the USA, Japan, Europe, and New Zealand. Whether through her tactile textile works or vibrant floral paintings, she continues to develop a practice that is both grounded in heritage and alive with contemporary creativity.
