I am a 28 year old self taught artist based in Torquay, Victoria. While my career has taken me down a different path as a business owner with a Bachelor of Science, painting has always been where I find the greatest sense of creativity, calm, and fulfilment.
From the age of 12, I began taking on commissioned artwork, creating portraits of people and animals for clients. Over the years, I was fortunate to paint many meaningful pieces for others, but more recently I realised I had very little artwork of my own that reflected my personal experiences or that I would choose to hang in my own home. That realisation inspired me to close my commission books and begin a new chapter, one focused on creating art with a deeper personal connection.
Outside of the studio, I spend much of my time working with animals and exploring nature through my business, so it's only natural that my artwork continually returns to these subjects. I now draw inspiration from my own photographs, travels, and everyday moments, transforming memories into paintings that tell a story. While portraiture of both humans and animals will always hold a special place in my heart, my work has evolved to embrace Australia's native flora and the quiet beauty found in my surrounds.
As a self taught artist, I love the freedom to continually challenge myself by exploring different styles, techniques, and sources of inspiration. My background in science has also given me a deep appreciation for observation and detail, qualities that naturally shape my artistic process.
My hope is that each painting not only captures a moment in time but also evokes a sense of nostalgia, connection, and calm. Through my work, I aim to create timeless pieces that bring warmth into people's homes and encourage them to appreciate the beauty that surrounds us every day.
