Artwork Description

This portrait is of my daughter Jaz, started with 20 premixed tones, from white through to black, each shade ever so slightly darker from the one before. I had to make sure that I had enough of each tone to complete the portrait from the onset, as it would have been very difficult to mix the exact greys if I was to run out. The beautiful, flowing, organic shapes gradually transitioning from one shade to another make up this work.
I thought about having her do her hair for the portrait, this however would be out of character!!

Artist Bio

My art is a journey into the language of colour—exploring why certain hues stir emotions, evoke memories, or awaken a sense of nostalgia. I’m captivated by how colours work together, and I’m equally fascinated by how others experience them. Through my vibrant and experimental works, I aim to spark connection, inviting viewers to reflect on their own feelings, preferences, and stories.
