Cosmic Unfolding

Part of the Signature Collection, Cosmic Unfolding radiates outward from a luminous centre through curved, flowing forms. The radial composition creates a strong sense of expansion and rhythmic movement, leading the eye from the centre across the full surface.

Layered passages, metallic elements, and raised texture add variations in depth and reflectivity. The contrast between more concentrated and open areas creates a dynamic balance between visual density and release.

The outward movement gives the painting an expansive presence, while its radial structure keeps the composition connected. The work reflects the Signature Collection’s focus on movement, rhythm, light, and spatial balance through a distinctly expansive formal approach.

Morvarid Dastjerdi is a Sydney-based contemporary abstract artist whose practice explores how painting can create a different quality of attention, opening space for personal perceptual engagement with relationships. She creates layered abstract works in which light, movement, rhythm, texture, colour, and space interact across the surface. Light plays a central role, shaping both the composition and the way visual relationships change with movement, viewpoint, and surrounding conditions.

Dastjerdi holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Film Directing, and her multidisciplinary background in cinema, theatre, and design informs her sensitivity to composition, movement, atmosphere, and visual attention. In selected works, she integrates circular mirrors into the painted surface as material and perceptual elements. Through reflection, these mirrors bring aspects of the viewer and surrounding environment into the visual field, creating a changing relationship between artwork, viewer, light, and space.
