Artwork Description

Barwon Heads is a rugged headland visible for many kilometres up and down the coast. There is a magnificent view from the top. Down below is a marine sanctuary with rock pools teeming with life. It's one of my most favourite places to paint. This one was painted en plein air from the stairs and touched up later in the studio. It's the biggest painting I've ever done en plein air (outdoors).

Artist Bio

MOYRA LE BLANC SMITH. Highlighting the fragility of our natural world and the need to preserve it for future generations is Moyra’s goal. By painting beautiful, natural subjects she hopes she can bring an awareness of the environmental concerns facing Australia. Moyra has a passion for painting the Australian Bush. Whether it’s the beautiful greens of the ferns and paddocks of the Otways Ranges, or the turquoise water and creamy coloured sand of Australia’s beaches, the reds, ochres and soft greens of the outback or gnarled old gum trees clinging to life on a creek bank or reflected in water, all are a constant source of inspiration.A love of plein air painting, experimenting with new ideas, exploring new technology, subject matter or colours means that Moyra’s work is constantly evolving.Moyra works in oil paint as she loves the colours, texturehttps://au.pinterest.com/android/s and 'feel' of the paint. The landscapes and gum trees are done in traditional oil painting style. Her home/gallery is located on the Bellarine Peninsula near Geelong in Victoria, Australia.
