Mythra Sage (b.1996 Canada) is a Naarm/Melbourne based artist. From the first time she drew a figure in the soft sands of New Zealand’s coast at age three, mark-making has been an integral aspect to Mythra’s practice. Working primarily with oil painting, she investigates notions of memory, relationship with place and process-driven work. Mythra’s work explores the contrast between her upbringing in Bali, Indonesia, and her current home of Australia using a process of iteration and interpretation to dance between figuration and abstraction. Through a focus on the physicality and language of paint, Mythra’s work aligns memories, experiences past and present as a means of preservation. She pursues being an active member of Melbourne’s eclectic art scene through contribution, collaboration and hosting events that bring together like-minded people.
