Artwork Description

'Free Fallin' forms part of the artist newest collection: Warm shadow.
Nada explores the cathartic nature of breaking traditional forms as a
release for supressed experiences.
Each piece in this collection was led by the energetic smashing of ceramic plates. In an act of
resilience, the artist then throws the broken pieces onto canvas, surrendering to the forces of
gravity to place them where they want to be, spontaneous and free.
Acrylic spray paint is then applied to mark the form of each broken piece as it landed. The
canvas becomes a place of curiosity and wonder as the artist intuitively uses her brush to
apply building layers of paint to create abstract, melodic scenes of movement and interacting
shapes. The artist draws a comparison to lying under a cloudy sky and making out forms with
the imagination.
Nada orchestrates an interactive exchange with her audience, encouraging them to see new
forms through the filter of their own experience. These paintings will represent something new
to each individual viewing them in the present, and again in the future as we all evolve and
continue to see new things.
Reminiscent to the abstract expressionists of the 40s and 50s, the artistic act of letting go of
control allows spontaneity to flow through each piece. No two pieces are the same.
Ultimately this collection is a celebration about creating space to expel what no longer serves
us. To look at the world with curiosity and wonder, breaking free of our self imposed barriers,
to re-discover our boundless imagination.

Artist Bio

Nada Kezu is currently creating from her artist studio in St Kilda, Melbourne.

She likes to experiment with the abstraction of her life experiences, memories & emotions.

Most of her art sessions start with a strong cup of coffee, loud music & an open mind.

She works on multiple canvases at the same time. Her 'focus' piece on the easel or stapled to the wall & many 'burner canvases' prepped with heavy texture laying all over the studio floor.

Once in this flow, she says 'the painting is a necessary cathartic process, primal even'

'Paint like you are always curious & willing to destroy the bits you are attached to'
