Nadene Cain Bowden is a Brisbane-based artist whose lifelong devotion to art, fashion, and painting began at just seven years old. She first discovered her creative voice through oil paintings of the Australian landscape and sold her very first artwork at the age of eleven. Her early passion for illustrating fashion—particularly bridal and ball gowns, led her into a successful career as a junior designer at fifteen. She continued designing bridal and evening wear, and by nineteen had risen to become head designer for a respected fashion house.
At twenty-three, Nadene moved to Toronto, Canada, where she opened her own bridal salon in the prestigious Yorkville district. Throughout her creative journey, she continued to explore a wide range of mediums and developed a deep love for mixed media, especially the expressive combination of acrylic and oil pastel, blending her background in art and fashion into a distinctive and evolving personal style 🎨
Today, Nadene’s body of work embraces abstract art infused with the spirit of the Australian landscape, its vast horizons, shifting light, and earthy tones. Working across acrylic, oil pastel, watercolour, pencil, and layered mixed media, her creations bridge art, fashion, and the feminine experience. Her work reflects both the physical form and the emotional landscapes women navigate throughout their lives, capturing themes of strength, vulnerability, memory, and transformation. Through texture, colour, and gesture, Nadene invites viewers into a deeply personal yet universally resonant visual story
