Cinque Terra was created after a visit to Italy with my daughter. The image shows her on the steep steps of Cinque Terra where you can walk from one village to the next, 5 in all. We set off mid-afternoon in winter, not such a good idea, but we could see our way with the Mediterranean light. As we neared the next village, coming in on one of the back, cobbled-stone streets, the locals sang out ‘buona sera’ to us as they were putting out their bins. We followed the distant sound of singing and came to a pub, full of locals and their children, all singing. It was a magical moment.
The print was created by hand, burnishing with a print baren, using several blocks of lino.
