Artwork Description

A statement piece featuring subtle texture and big presence. Inspired by the beautiful Otways in Victoria, this statement artwork has many layers of luscious emerald green tones that provide a beautiful feeling of being immersed in the forest. The gold highlights provide a gentle glow, like late afternoon sun breaking through the tree canopy. There is a sense of deep wisdom and calm, just like the feeling you get when surrounded by our beautiful native trees.
There are many tiny details to discover up close, and when viewed from afar the colours will shift depending on the light. There's a little bit of magic in this one!
Framed in a raw timber float frame with title and signature on the back.

Artist Bio

Nadine Hobson is a Melbourne based artist, a lifelong creative and self confessed perpetual daydreamer. Drawing inspiration from the beautiful, diverse beauty of the Australian landscape, including the Dandenong Ranges where she grew up, Nadine creates textured abstracts that reflect nature’s colour palettes, while also reflecting an otherworldly, dreamlike quality; and as such, fondly refers to her paintings as ‘dreamscapes’. Works are created from a deeply emotional connection to country and place, conveying mood, emotion and a tangible representation of an experience in nature.

Further layered into each piece is inspiration derived from music. Every artwork is named for a particularly meaningful song or lyric that wends its way through the creative process, and ultimately coincides with the overall mood of the finished work. For Nadine, art is intrinsically linked to a love of music and this adds an additional dimension to her practice and completed works.

Emotive and immersive, Nadine works in a highly intuitive way and generally without a fixed idea of exactly what the finished artwork might necessarily be. Instead the focus is on channelling those lived experiences & feelings and allowing the flow state to guide the process. This creative spontaneity allows exploration and experimentation, imbuing the works with a sense of movement and fluidity. There are many tiny details to discover within each piece. This is a result of applying many layers of texture, paint and ink which gives great depth and complexity to the finished works.
