The Dainty Swallowtail (other name Dingy Swallowtail, scientific name Papilio anactus) butterfly is a regular visitor to my garden. This native Australian butterfly loves citrus plants, and is illustrated just the way I found it in my garden β on a native Finger Lime bush.
I managed to get a reference photo of 3 stages of its life cycle together in one shot (caterpillar, chrysalis, butterfly) which inspired this detailed life cycle painting. You can see by the close-up image how much time and care went into faithfully painting tiny details of the butterflies and surrounding plants. If you look closely, the butterfly eggs are there too - completing, and continuing, the life cycle.
This original painting is framed in a gorgeous natural timber frame and sage-green mat. It's ready to hang, and bring garden joy into your home or office.
