Seaweed is what gives the rock pools and the ocean floor her magic. It sways a balletic dance with the tides and currents, often washing up on the beach causing us to wonder at its form and texture. I have a curious fascination with the stuff, and it shows up regularly in my arts practice. Exploring effects of time in nature on the human condition, how the natural world imbues positivity and wellbeing, which transcends to a greater understanding of the environment, ourselves, our connections and priorities. Naomi is a multidisciplinary artist working in impasto acrylics, metallic leaf, cyanotypes and hand cut paper. BA Visual Arts ANU (first year only). Diploma of Interior Design RMIT. Recently shown at Gallery Alchemy and Basil Sellers Exhibition Centre. A mid-career artist who's work spans three decades. Her poppies series is licensed across several Australian Defence Force memorabilia brands. The latest lotus series is inspired by a sizeable lotus pond at her rural shared studio near Mogo, NSW. Waterways and rugged beaches near her Surf Beach home and main studio influence the artist's coastal abstract works and oyster series.
