The Eastern Stone Curlew, or thick-knee, often gets a hard time in urban areas because of its highly defensive tactics and loud nocturnal communications (aka screechings). Here on a pure linen background, the curlew is portrayed as a proud yet mildly cross looking Australian bird, complete with a hat that suits the curlew's general behaviour and attitude. Rich earthy hues with hints of ochre and blush make up this one off statement piece.
