'Dancing Native Lotus Duo' is a captivating diptych inspired by the Australian native lotus 'Nelumbo Nucifera' which grows mainly in the warmer regions of Australia. Naomi paints at a studio near a large pond containing hundreds of these particular lotus, which have become her muse. They lie dormant over the cool winters of the NSW Far South Coast, coming to life again in spring. Naomi likens the bend and sway of the stems and pods to a dance, captured here in her mesmerising, oversized diptych.
A strip of reflective silver leaf stretches the entire 244cm length of the paintings, and shimmers when lit by indirect sunlight or lamplight. This bold yet playful pair of paintings is an original, abstract expressionist work and forms part of Naomi's popular Lotus Pond collection.
