Artwork Description

In this work, I explore connection, nature and lived experience through the tidal river landscape. Drawn from the tidal estuaries of coastal Australia, I am interested in the constant flux of water as both movement and concealment. Beneath the surface, layered pattern and metallic elements sit within the work, referencing traces of colonial presence and the imposition of domestic ideals onto the land. Through texture, gesture and mark, these elements are disrupted and partially obscured. I am considering what is held within the landscape, what is hidden, and the ways we continue to aestheticise and live alongside these histories.
