One step beyond is an abstract painting of a wharf or jetty in a heavy fog. Influenced by shipping, docks, wharfs, boats and the artists experience of sailing, this painting shows the deep sea blues, the misty whites and the rusty metals of the wharf structure.
The artist uses scratches and mark making with oil pastels to give the painting texture and conversation. The painting has a stillness and tranquility about it that is conveyed by the blending of the fog/mist and the water. The blues are achieved using thin transparent layers that are built up on the canvas.
The painting is unframed, but includes a hanging wire and is ready to hang.
