Artwork Description

"City Eye" came to life during Covid, when the world outside had gone strangely silent but my inner world was anything but. Locked down and restless, I found myself pouring all that pent-up energy and longing for the city into this painting — and the colours reflect exactly that. Nothing muted, nothing held back.

I reached for the most electric hues on my palette — cobalt and cerulean blue as the backbone, then hot reds, burnt orange, acid yellow-green, teal and magenta all pushing against each other with an intensity that felt right for the moment. When you can't go out, you paint loud.

The buildings tumble and lean into one another the way a real city feels when you're moving through it - a little chaotic, layered, endlessly textured. I covered their facades in diagonal stripes, rhythmic dots, grids and patterns that I just kept building up, almost intuitively. There's something of fabric and folk art in there alongside the architecture, which is very much how I see cities — as woven, human, handmade things.

The eye was the moment the painting told me what it was really about. I placed it there in the lower left, bold yellow and black, wide open — and suddenly I realised it was me, still watching the city even while the city slept. It felt vulnerable and honest and a little surreal, which is exactly how that time felt.

Artist Bio

I’ve always believed that art reveals itself in the quiet and the overlooked—sunlight dancing on a wall, the curve of a worn object, or the stillness before a storm.

To me, these moments are gentle invitations to create, to explore, and to see the extraordinary within the ordinary.

My work grows from curiosity and a constant dialogue with the world around me. The natural environment is my grounding force—its textures, tones, and raw unpredictability remind me that nothing stays the same, and that’s what makes it beautiful. I’m drawn to experimentation, to pushing different mediums beyond their comfort zones, letting the materials surprise me as much as I hope to surprise others.

Whether through photography, paint, or mixed materials, I approach each piece as an emotional response to my surroundings.

I rely on instinct as much as intention, allowing play and spontaneity to guide the process.

Art, for me, isn’t about perfect execution but about honest expression—an ever-evolving conversation between self, spirit, and nature.

In the end, I create not to capture control, but to honour the fleeting, beautiful disorder of life.

Every piece is a reminder that art, much like nature itself, thrives in movement, change, and a little bit of wonder.
