Artwork Description

"This piece is deeply influenced by the elegance and disciplined precision of classical
19th-century fencing. Inspired by vintage monochrome photography and historical sports illustrations, the artwork strips away all environmental distractions to focus entirely on the raw physics and human anatomy of the lunge. By placing the figure against a stark, absolute black void, the painting captures a single, timeless moment of intense concentration and athletic grace. It explores the duality between the sharpness of the blade and the controlled, flowing movement of the swordsman, bridging the gap between historical tradition and modern minimalist aesthetic."

Artist Bio

I am an Australian artist working in acrylic on canvas. My paintings explore the quiet beauty of everyday life, finding significance in familiar objects, domestic spaces and fleeting moments that are often overlooked.
Guided by themes of memory, place and nostalgia, I use light, composition and carefully observed detail to create paintings that feel both intimate and open-ended. Rather than telling a complete story, I aim to leave room for viewers to connect their own experiences with the work.

Through contemporary realism, I hope to encourage a slower way of looking—one that reveals the extraordinary within the ordinary.
