Artwork Description

"Sliding a wave removes our brains out of the ordinary and slips us into the extraordinary of being there now - no more worries about mortgages or strife of being poor or rich. When you enter the domain of an ocean cylinder, that moment, those split seconds belong to the Zen part of just being. Period."
Bill Hamilton
The ocean beautifully rude; rolling in large waves, deeply brightly blue, breaking everywhere into foam.
You never really know what's coming. A small wave, or maybe a big one. All you can really do is hope that when it comes, you can surf over it, instead of drown in its monstrosity.

Artist Bio

Natalia Graham

Multi-award-winning artist Natalia Graham was born in Eastern Europe and has made Queensland her home since migrating to Australia in 2009. Her artistic journey began in childhood: she discovered her passion for painting at age 5, attended children’s art school from age 8, and completed four years of full-time study at an Art & Design College, laying a formal foundation rooted in her homeland’s traditions, which she continues to enrich with a lifetime of diverse experiences.

A mixed media abstract expressionist, Natalia works primarily in series, where unexpected details or successful techniques in one piece often guide her next creative direction. She combines traditional painting methods with modern flow media, using thick paint and palette knives to build sculptural, textured compositions.

Drawing inspiration from folklore, childhood memories, historical masters, travel, daily life and the natural world, her practice is shaped by her European upbringing and modern art influences. Her work weaves vibrant colour, line and texture with personal experiences of people, places, sound and emotion, exploring themes of femininity, harmony, joy, fantasy and connection to the world. Natalia views creativity as a way to understand her surroundings, share joy with viewers, and invite moments of reflection and shared wonder.

Her paintings are held in private collections across Australia and internationally. Every work is signed, dated, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

“My art is a sculptural interpretation of the images and emotions I have collected through life – an invitation to pause, reflect, and delight in the versatility of our world.”
